Fist of Legend is a 1994 Hong Kong martial arts movie directed by Gordon Chan. Jet Li stars as Chen Zhen, a Chinese martial artist fighting for his deceased master, his martial arts school, and his romantic partner Mitsuko.

Hard Boiled is a 1992 Hong Kong action-thriller movie directed by John Woo and starring Chow Yun-fat and Leung Chiu-wai. It is a dark, violent and bloody movie propelled by great performances from its two leads.

I’ve recently decided to watch more Chinese movies. Until now the Chinese films I’ve seen have mostly been internationally recognized art films (Wong Kar-wai, Taiwanese New Wave), so I want to give a go to more mainstream movies. I will be giving my impressions and thoughts on what I watch, starting with Fong Sai-yuk, a 1993 Hong Kong action-comedy film directed by Corey Yuen and starring Jet Li.
